Case summary
Mayor of Dnipro. In April 2022, the head of the Investigative Committee, Aleksandr Bastrykin, ordered a case to be opened against Filatov in connection with a post in which he allegedly called for the killing of Russians around the world. In April 2023, it was reported that a case of incitement to genocide had been opened against Filatov. In September 2023, he was arrested in absentia, then it was reported with charges of inciting hatred. When Filatov's case went to court, the website also listed an article about "fake news" about the Armed Forces. On 14 January 2025, the mayor was sentenced in absentia to nine years in prison.
