The name, patronymic and surname fully coincide with the name, patronymic and surname of the serviceman who confessed to Katerina Fomina, a journalist at Vazhnye Istorii, that he was involved in the killings of civilians in the Kiev Region and other crimes. The investigation, which recounted phone conversations with Frolkin, was released on 15 August. Back in late July, Frolkin left for Khabarovsk Krai, where he applied for dismissal from service. In Ukraine, a case of violation of the laws and customs of war (part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) was opened against Frolkin. In the Russian Federation, a case was opened against serviceman Daniil Frolkin for spreading deliberately false information about the Russian Armed Forces. After finding out about this criminal case, the journalists of Vazhnye Istorii attempted to contact Frolkin, but he did not respond to their messages and calls. On 16 March 2023, the court sentenced Frolkin to a five and a half years' suspended sentence.
