Case summary

Resident of Izhevsk. In September 2025, he was placed under house arrest on charges of spreading deliberately false information about the activities of the USSR during World War II. The occasion was a comment in which Gafiatullin claimed that SMERSH "dressed up as banderites and shot peaceful Ukrainians to frame the underground fighters". On 21 January 2026, Gafiatullin was sentenced to two and a half years of forced labour.
