Case summary

A resident of Kaspiysk (Dagestan). He was accused of involvement in the organisation "At-Takfir Wal-Hijra", which is recognised as extremist. Some human rights activists believe that there is no evidence of the real existence of such an organisation on the territory of Russia.

Gasanov was first sentenced in August 2022, but the sentence was cancelled in December 2022 by a court of appeal.

In April 2023, Gasanov was sentenced to three years and two months in a general regime colony. The court took into account that Gasanov had no previous convictions, has a disabled mother, a wife and five children and actively contributed to the investigation: he fully admitted guilt and cooperated with the investigation. Presumably, he was released in 2025.
