Case summary
Served in the Georgian Defence Forces, then in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was captured on 20 May 2022 during the battle for Mariupol. A case of mercenarism and attempt on the life of servicemen was opened against him - according to the investigation, he opened fire on Russian servicemen while in a flat of a multi-storey building. On 20 February 2024, the Russian-controlled Supreme Court of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic sentenced Gatsereliy to life imprisonment.
