Case summary
A resident of Chechnya. On 13 August 2001 he was detained during a mop-up operation in a village. According to the project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial", a local policeman Supyan Tazuev, who had previously demanded a large sum of money from Timerbulatov in connection with the mitigation of the preventive measure for Timerbulatov's brother Ali, in whose yard shell casings were found, learned about the detention. Tazuev together with other law enforcers tortured Timerbulatov. In addition, they beat his relatives who came to bring the handover to the police station. Thus they forced Timerbulatov to confess to committing a terrorist act.
