Case summary

On 21 July 2015, it became known about the arrest of Fanis Gainutdinov, during the search extremist literature was found, as well as weapons, although he was not accused of illegal possession of weapons. Gainutdinov was charged with organising the activities of an extremist organisation and participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation. He claimed to have withdrawn from Hizb ut-Tahrir activities. On 8 June 2016, he was sentenced to six years in a general regime colony. He was released in July 2021.

In 2005, he had already been convicted of involvement in terrorist offences and organising the activities of an extremist organisation.
