Full summary
He was detained on 23 October 2018 by FSB officers at home after a search. Gilyazov suffers from Duchenne myopathy and uses a wheelchair. According to his wife, Gilyazov's mouth bled during the search and she called an ambulance. The doctors took him away, but then brought him back. The FSB officers took Gilyazov away telling his wife that they would take him to the Investigative Committee. It was only the next day when his wife learnt that he had been in the pre-trial detention centre. Later it turned out that the court had decided to send him to detention for two months on charges of participating in the activities of a terrorist organisation and recruiting potential participants. From the pre-trial detention centre Gilyazov was soon sent to the hospital of the Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service. Despite the fact that media and human rights activists drew attention to the situation, Gilyazov was released on his own recognisance only on 21 December. The publication Znak.Com reported, citing unnamed representatives of the investigation, that Gilyazov gave "the necessary testimony". On 31 January 2019, it became known that Gilyazov is also accused of publicly justifying terrorism on the Internet.
On 22 November 2019, the court sentenced Gilyazov to 11 years in prison but released him from punishment due to his health condition. In addition, Gilyazov was banned for three years from activities related to the administration of websites and channels on the Internet.
