Case summary
On March 1, 2017, members of the Initiative Group for the Referendum "For Responsible Government" in Moscow underwent searches. Subsequently, a criminal case was initiated against the organisers of the group. During the search, an employee of the Centre for Combating Extremism threatened Gorbaty with imprisonment.
On January 23, 2018, the activist was detained and brought in for questioning in a case related to the financing of an extremist organisation. On January 24, he was placed under house arrest. In October of the same year, the court returned the case to the prosecutor's office.
On June 11, 2020, he received a two-year suspended sentence.
