Case summary
In October 2017, Iritov's brother Aslan and the organisation he headed planned to hold a rally against the sale of land in Volniy Aul, a resort village in Nalchik. Before the rally, according to Kavkazsky Uzel, the siloviki (security forces) came to the Iritov brothers' home and beat them up. The brothers filed a police report. According to Iritov's niece, a criminal case was opened against them for using violence against the siloviki (security forces) after they refused to take the statement back. In October 2018, the court sentenced Beslan Iritov to six months' imprisonment and released him, taking into account the served arrest.
