Case summary

In February 2017, the flat of Sagit Ismagilov, an activist of the Bashkir national movement, and the office of the Bashkort organization were searched and system units and books with religious content were seized. Ismagilov was accused of incitement to hatred for a publication on the VKontakte social network. On 18 October he was sentenced to a fine of 320,000 rubles. On 21 December, the Supreme Court of the Republic confirmed the sentence but reduced the fine to 100 thousand. On 7 February 2019, the verdict was cancelled.
