Case summary

A popular YouTube blogger. In 2017, he left Russia after one of his videos was required to be checked for inducement to suicide (Article 110.1 of the Criminal Code). In September 2022, it became known that Ivanov had been charged for "fakes" about the Russian Armed Forces. On 23 September 2022, the Ministry of Justice included Ivanov in the register of "foreign agents". In December, he was put on the wanted list. Initially, the case was opened under the 1st part of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code, but in April 2024 the charge was reclassified to distribution of military "fakes" motivated by political hatred (item "e" part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). On 7 May Ivanov was arrested in absentia. On 21 October 2024, he was sentenced in absentia to 8 years.
