Case summary

On 26 December 2019, he was detained after a search and interrogation as part of the case of organising activities of an extremist group. He spent 24 hours in a temporary detention centre, after which the court refused to place him in custody. It was reported that he was also accused of fake registration at the place of residence or stay. On 5 August 2022, Kabanov was sentenced to two years' of suspended sentence. On 27 December, the court of appeal returned the case to the prosecutor's office. The charge of fake registration was apparently dropped. On 1 February 2024, the trial court, on reconsideration, also returned the case to the prosecutor's office, but on 28 March the appeal court reversed this decision and returned the case to the trial court. On 18 February 2025, the trial court again sentenced Kabanov to a two-year of suspended sentence.
