Case summary

A native of Omsk. In the Bryansk region, a criminal case was brought against him for the dissemination of information on the Internet expressing obvious disrespect for society, about the days of military glory of Russia related to the defence of the Fatherland, and desecration of symbols of military glory of Russia. In July 2025, it was referred to court.

The case was initiated because of a comment published on 28 January 2025 in one of the messenger apps. The IC reported that the comment expressed a negative attitude toward the war in Ukraine, as well as symbols and days of military glory of Russia, and memorial dates of the Great Patriotic War. The regional prosecutor's office specified that the man made a contemptuous remark about the memorials of the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery and the celebration of Victory Day and the day of lifting the siege of Leningrad.

On 2 September 2025, the court sentenced Kalashnikov to eight months in a penal colony.
