Case summary

Politician, blogger. Included in the register of "foreign agents" in July 2022.

The case was initiated on 7 April 2022 under Part 1 of the article on "fakes", but later the part was changed, and on 20 February 2023 Katz was charged in absentia under paragraph "e" of Part 2 of the article (spreading deliberately false information about the Russian Armed Forces on the grounds of political hatred). On 23 March, he was arrested in absentia. On 24 August 2023, Katz was sentenced in absentia to eight years in prison.

In August 2025, a case was brought against the politician for evasion of duties as a "foreign agent". On 11 March 2026, he was sentenced in absentia to nine years in this case, taking into account the previous sentence.
