Case summary

On 9 April 2014, he was detained in Moscow. From 10 April to 24 October, Kazikhanov was held in a pre-trial detention centre, and was then placed under house arrest. On 10 November, he was charged with organising the activities of a cell of the banned organisation "Nurdzhular" (which in fact does not exist). On 25 February 2015, he was sentenced to three and a half years' imprisonment in a general regime colony. On 13 May, the court of second instance upheld the sentence, and on 31 July 2015 a request to refer the cassation appeal for substantive consideration was refused. He was released in October 2017.
