Case summary

Klevachev was a foreman at the "Gormost" State Unitary Enterprise. He was accused of blowing up the Grozny-Moscow train on grounds of ethnic hatred (there was an accident at the 153 kilometer of the Paveletskaya railway in June 2005, four cars of the train derailed, none of the passengers were seriously injured). In 2006, a jury acquitted him. In March 2007, a newly formed jury found him guilty. On 10 April Klevachev was sentenced to 19 years in a strict regime colony. On 19 June the appellate court upheld the sentence. Presumably, he was released in December 2023.
