In Klimenko's own words, the reason for the initiation of the case was a video of an emotional conversation about the war with his neighbour, which was filmed by another neighbour. The video contained aggressive phrases about Russians. Klimenko says that the forensic report mentions phrases he did not actually say. On 22nd of April, 2022 a court fined Klimenko an administrative offence of incitement to hatred after he shouted "Glory to Ukraine, Glory to Heroes, death to Putin's faggots" through the window of his house.
