Case summary
In July 2015, it became known that Konopikhin was charged with incitement to hatred for posting extremist articles, photos and videos on the Internet. In November, the case was brought to court but later returned to the prosecutor due to irregularities in drafting the indictment. The charge of incitement to ethnic hatred was then added to the charge of calling for extremist activity against representatives of a certain nationality. In June 2016, Konopikhin was sentenced to two years' suspended imprisonment.
