Case summary

A criminal case has been instituted for posting a picture of people resembling Pushkin and nationalist Maksim Martsinkevich, better known as Tesak, on his VKontakte social network page. On 3 November 2016, the court found Yevgeny Kort guilty of incitement to ethnic hatred and sentenced him to a year of penal colony. On 16 January 2017, the court of second instance replaced the imprisonment with a fine of 200 thousand rubles. According to unconfirmed reports, Kort left Russia. On 25 December 2018, the verdict was cancelled, the case was sent for a new consideration. On 27 February, the court of first instance dismissed Kort's case.
