Case summary
Resident of the Bryansk region. In May 2023, a case of abuse of symbols of military glory was brought against him because he tore off a fellow villager's "St George ribbon" and trampled it in the mud. On 11 May, Koshechko was detained, and on 13 May, the court sent him under house arrest. On 29 May, the preventive measure was replaced by a ban on certain actions. On 13 February 2024, the court acquitted Koshechko, as there was no "St. George ribbon" on the coat of the serviceman with whom he had a conflict. It also became known that on the day when Koshechko had a conflict, two eyewitnesses, one of whom was a deputy of the village council, beat him with a baseball bat and a shovel handle. A case was brought against them for intentional infliction by a group of persons of serious harm to health dangerous to human life, with the use of objects used as weapons. On 29 January 2025, the court of cassation instance overturned the acquittal verdict. On 18 March 2025, the court dismissed the case on reconsideration due to the expiry of the statute of limitations.
