Case summary

In April 2015, a search was conducted in his apartment, and a case was opened for insulting the religious feelings of believers (Article 148 of the Criminal Code). This was based on comments mocking the Bible and religion in general in the online community "Podsuslushano v Stavropol" on the social network VKontakte. During the investigation, Viktor Krasnov spent a month in a psychiatric dispensary, where he was subjected to a sanity assessment without his consent. The case went to trial starting in February 2016, and on the 15th of February 2017, it was closed due to the statute of limitations having expired.
