Case summary

Resident of Shadrinsk (Kurgan region). On 14 July 2021, Lubin's home was searched and he was detained. On July 6, the court ruled to place him in custody as part of a case involving the activities of an extremist organization, despite his Group II disability. On 28 August, after the defence filed a complaint with the ECHR, he was issued a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions. The charges relate to his involvement in the Jehovah's Witnesses community - the representatives of this community are prosecuted under extremist articles on the basis of exclusively religious activities: holding meetings and worship services, attracting new supporters.

On 7 October 2024, Lubin was sentenced to a fine of 500,000 rubles. Lubin, whose physical state of health significantly deteriorated after his stay in the pre-trial detention centre, died in November 2024.
