Case summary
A resident of Volgograd. Detained in July 2020 on charges of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation for having been involved in the activities of the Islamic movement Tablighi Jamaat. Its adherents are persecuted solely because of their religious activities. On 12 September 2022, he was given 2 years of suspended sentence. On 11 November 2022, the appeal court commuted the suspended sentence to a real one. Presumably released in November 2024.
