Case summary
On 2 March 2016, nine residents of Makhachkala were brought to the police on suspicion of involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir. Of these, Murad Valiev, Magomed Magomedov, as well as Gadzhi Ramazanov and Sharip Habibov were arrested. On 28 February 2017, the prosecutor's office announced that it had referred Magomedov's case to court, he was charged under part 2 of article 205.5 of the Russian Criminal Code (participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation). On 25 April, a verdict was passed against him.
