Case summary
On 28 August 2014, the FSB officers conducted a search at Marchenko's place, during which they seized all office equipment and mobile phones. The next day, the blogger was charged at the regional department of the security service under Part 1 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls to extremism) for publishing a post on 8 July 2014 with statements about Russia's actions on the territory of Ukraine. A week before the search, the blogger was also summoned to the regional FSS, where he was shown printouts of scans of a certain website, according to which he and another Khabarovsk LGBT activist, Alexander Yermoshkin, are the creators and inspirers of a "gay terrorist underground" aimed at organising an "orange revolution" in Khabarovsk. On 1 October 2015, Marchenko was sentenced to a fine of 100,000 rubles and amnestied
