Aleksei Marfin

According to the investigation, on 22 June 2022, the accused, while at his place of work in the Yuryansky District of the Kirov Region, published comments on one of the social networks in his own name, accessible to an unrestricted audience, that insulted the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland. Marfin left the following comments under a post regarding the deaths of two Russian soldiers in Ukraine: “That's where they belong; may the earth be glassy for them. They went to fight in another country, intending to loot. They failed to kill Ukrainian citizens. They died in a ditch; others should take note.” “...these dead ones even resemble Nazis in their uniforms.” “Those lads went to kill Ukrainian citizens, so may the earth be glassy for them; they bear as much guilt as those who sent them there.” Furthermore, from July 2023 to May 2024, the accused systematically disseminated deliberately false information about the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation under the guise of credible information in a well-known social network. Marfin was accused of spreading “fake news” due to comments made in several public groups: RBK, “Arguments and Facts,” “Emergency/Shocking Incidents/News,” and “Andrei Pivovarov.” For instance, on 4 July 2023, under a post by RBK summarising the day's main events, Marfin commented: “...the bombed maternity hospital in Mariupol is a fact.” On 23 July 2023, on the AiF page, beneath a news post regarding the destruction of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral in Odessa by a Ukrainian missile, Marfin left the following comments: “...the Russian army bombed the maternity hospital in Mariupol, and then lied that it was a military facility; there were civilian casualties in Bucha after the departure of the Russian army...” “...so you are trying to lie that there was no shelling of the maternity hospital?” “...prior to the war initiated by Putin in Ukraine, everything was fine in Bucha; no one was killed,” in response to another user known as “FIO40”: “Leha, this is not even funny anymore. The participant in the Mariupol maternity hospital hoax has long explained how the Ukrainian forces staged it,” accompanied by photos of the participant. “...before the war that Putin started in Ukraine, everyone in Bucha was alive and healthy,” in response to another user, “FIO40”: “...the city council deputy from Bucha demonstrated what the city looks like after the Russian military. The video from 3 April shows no bodies in any of the four clips.” On 17 December 2023, in the public group of Andrei Pivovarov, under a post about an exhibition of Russian political prisoners in Riga, Marfin wrote: “...the Russian army is destroying settlements in Ukraine and occupying territories, leading to the deaths of Ukrainian civilians.” “...the Russian army is erasing Ukrainian cities from the face of the earth; I can point you to the ruins of Bakhmut or Soledar, Popasna, or the ruins and dead civilians in the supposedly liberated Mariupol.” On 25 May 2024, on the page of “Emergency/Shocking Incidents/News,” under a post about an attack on a shopping centre in Kharkiv, Marfin wrote: “...what was the point of bombing the station in Kramatorsk, or the maternity hospital in Mariupol, or a pizzeria, etc.? The Ministry of Defence... what is this super HQ of the Ukrainian Armed Forces? It turns out they were just civilians.” “...so the Russian occupiers bombed the shopping centre, which means they are targeting civilians.”
