Case summary
A journalist who has contributed to publications such as 7x7, Novaya Gazeta, Dozhd, and Radio Liberty. From 2011 to 2015, he worked as a TV correspondent for GTRK Karelia, and from 2015 to 2016, as a news correspondent for Stolitsa na Onego. In December 2020, he was among the first five individuals added to the register of "foreign agents."
On November 6, 2024, it was reported that a case had been opened against Markelov for failing to fulfill his obligations as a "foreign agent."
