Case summary
Detained at the end of January 2019, placed in custody on January 30 on charges of organizing activities of an extremist organization. On 24th of December, Mindagaliev was released on his own recognisance.
On 5 March 2020, in connection with the actions of the investigation and the court, Mindagaliev filed a criminal complaint with the Military Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Prosecutor's Office of the Saratov region. He demanded to start a criminal case under Articles 299 and 301 of the Criminal Code (bringing a knowingly innocent person to criminal responsibility and unlawful detention) due to the fact that the evidence in the case was collected in May-October 2018, but the official publication of information on the recognition of Tablighi Jamaat as an extremist organisation occurred in "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" (Russian Newspaper) only on 13 December of the same year.
On 13 August, he was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony and 1 year of restriction of freedom. He was released in 2021.
