Case summary

A resident of Konakovo in the Tver region, he was subjected to a search in June 2021 and placed under a travel restriction.

On 21 June 2023, Naumenko was charged with organising the activities of an extremist organisation in connection with his involvement in the Jehovah’s Witnesses community. Members of this community are prosecuted under extremism legislation solely for practising their religion — holding meetings and worship services, and seeking to attract new adherents.

In October 2023, the case was referred to court. In March 2025, the proceedings against Naumenko were suspended, while the other defendants received custodial sentences. The prosecution was later resumed, Naumenko was remanded in custody, and his case was sent to court again in December 2025.
