In July 2019, Oreshkov was detained after a search and taken into custody on charges of organising activities of an extremist organisation. On 12 February 2020, he was transferred under house arrest. On 13 March, he was released on his own recognisance. On 25 October 2021, he was sentenced to three years suspended sentence.
