Case summary
He lived and worked in Sakhalin. He was detained in February 2023 and placed in a detention centre for foreign citizens. On 29 June 2026, he was taken into custody on charges of organising the activities of an extremist organisation due to his involvement with the Islamic movement Tablighi Jamaat. The adherents are persecuted solely because of their religious activities. On 15 January 2024, Orozbaev was sentenced to six years in a general regime colony.
