Case summary

A resident of Khabarovsk, a minor at the time of the prosecution. In connection with his participation in protests in support of the former governor of the region Sergey Furgal in 2020, he was put on the preventive register. A criminal case was initiated against him for insulting a representative of the authorities: according to the investigation, he used foul language against a police representative who came to a meeting of the school preventive council. In March 2022, Popovich was sentenced to 80 hours of community service. On May 4, 2023, the court of cassation instance overturned the sentence and dismissed the case due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
