Case summary
Former police officer, resigned from the authorities after the verdict of Alexei Navalny.
The reason for the initiation of a case against him was a report written by police lieutenant colonel Alexander Chinenov. He stated that during the detentions on 21 April he had received "a negative assessment of personality".
The document claims that while in the detention cell, the detainee profanely insulted the policeman Alexander Chinenov, whom he recognised at the rally, who was present there - allegedly at this moment Rimsky "had a criminal intent" and decided to "reduce the authority" of the law enforcer. The indictment is at the disposal of OVD-Info.
According to Rimsky himself, he filmed what was happening at the rally to record police violations.
"Then the head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs gives an order to Chinenov to grab me, I clearly heard, further Chinenov orders others to detain me to destroy the recordings," Rimsky says. During the detention, his recording equipment was broken, and he was put in a solitary cell in the detention centre.
"The phone kept filming my knee," the man explains. - I talk to myself, angry, of course, at such lawlessness. Since I was in a solitary booth, I swear under my breath at the cops. Then I see the tape is playing, I switched it off. At the police station, they confiscated my phone for an hour and a half, and returned it without any recordings.
On 22 May, Sergei Rimsky was searched. Employees of the Centre "E" seized his laptop, phones and several documents. After the search, he was taken to the Investigative Committee for questioning as a suspect. On 20 July he was charged.
Currently, Rimsky is a candidate for the State Duma from the Yabloko party in the Kineshma district (Ivanovskaya Oblast).
