Case summary

Shayakhmetov was accused of publishing six texts on the website shurarb.ru (of the organisation Shura Muslims of the Republic of Bashkortostan) between January 2015 and January 2016. In June 2017, the court recognised the texts published by Shayakhmetov as extremist materials. The Kirovsky District Court considered the criminal case against Shayakhmetov in August 2018 and dismissed it with a judicial fine of 25,000 rubles. However, this decision was appealed by the prosecutor's office, and in November the Supreme Court of Bashkortostan sent the case back to the district court for a new hearing. In February 2019, the Kirovsky District Court of Ufa dismissed the case for lack of corpus delicti.
