The criminal case was initiated under Part 1 Article 282 of the Criminal Code (incitement to hatred) against Timur Shoev, a 23-year-old resident of Izhevsk, who posted on his social network page "an image of Jesus Christ [crucified on a cross], against whom a group of people are committing violent acts" (recognised as extremist material in January 2014) and anti-Christian comments to the post.
