Case summary
A resident of Krasnoyarsk Krai. He was detained on June 18, 2020, after a search and later taken into custody by a court order on charges of organizing the activities of an extremist organization, in connection with his involvement in the activities of the Jehovah’s Witnesses community. Members of this community are prosecuted under extremism laws solely for their religious activity - holding meetings and worship services and attracting new adherents. On July 9, the preventive measure was changed to a ban on certain actions. On May 10, 2023, Shuliuk was sentenced to seven years, suspended.
