Case summary

Resident of Tula. He was arrested three times under part 1 of article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences (public display of prohibited symbols): twice for publications with Nazi symbols, which, in our view, were not aimed at promoting Nazism, and once for symbols of Navalny's structures. Sosov was also fined under part 2 of article 5.26 of the Code of Administrative Offences (intentional public desecration of religious literature, objects of veneration, paraphernalia, or their defacement or destruction) for publishing collages with icons. A criminal case on the rehabilitation of Nazism was initiated against him because he published a collage with photos of the participants of the "Immortal Regiment" with portraits of veterans, instead of one of whom was Hitler. On 7 December 2023, Sosov was sentenced to three years of forced labour. In December 2024, Sosov was detained for evading the work, and the court placed him in custody on 20 December. Later his sentence was commuted to three years in a general regime penal colony.
