Case summary
A resident of Omsk Region. A criminal case was initiated against him on charges of disseminating knowingly false information about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. On May 27, 2024, Tyurin was sentenced to 6 years’ imprisonment in a general-regime penal colony. On February 20, 2024, Tyurin was added to the Rosfinmonitoring List of Terrorists and Extremists with a designation applied to persons prosecuted under terrorism-related articles. It later became known that a criminal case had also been initiated against him on charges of the public justification of terrorism. In the same month, he was sentenced to 4 years’ imprisonment in a general-regime penal colony. In addition, a criminal case was initiated against Tyurin on charges of discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. On October 3, 2024, he was sentenced in this case to 1 year’s imprisonment in a general-regime penal colony. Furthermore, Tyurin was charged with calls for activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation and with repeated demonstration of prohibited symbols; the details are unknown. On November 18, 2024, he was sentenced in this case, with the aggregate sentence, taking into account the three previous convictions, amounting to 6 years 6 months’ imprisonment in a general-regime penal colony. On February 17, 2025, Tyurin died in custody.
