Case summary

On 17 July 2019, a search takes place in the house of Verkhoturova and her husband, against whom has been opened a case of organising activities of an extremist organisation. Verkhoturova was intimidated with the prospect of 'terrible prison conditions' and warned that her psyche would suffer if she refused to cooperate or didn't provide logins and passwords to her personal accounts. On 26 March 2020, a case of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation was brought against Verkhoturova herself. On 17 July, a measure of restraint was chosen in the form of personal recognizance.

On 30 November 2021, she was sentenced to four years' suspended sentence.
