Case summary

Resident of Vladivostok. On July 2, 2020, he was added to Federal Financial Monitoring Service ("Rosfinmonitoring")'s list of extremists and terrorists. At the time, Verigin did not know that he was being prosecuted. A week later, he was searched as part of a case of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation in connection with involvement in the activities of the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Representatives of this community are prosecuted under extremist articles solely because of their religious activities — holding meetings and worship services and attracting new supporters. On February 10, 2023, the court suspended Verigin's prosecution.
