Case summary
She is a resident of Saint Petersburg. A case was initiated against her on charges of incitement to extremism after, according to the investigation, she called for “actions of a violent nature”, “changing the foundations of the constitutional order and violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation”, as well as proclaimed a “sovereign Ural state”. On 3 December 2024, Voronova was sentenced to a year and two months’ imprisonment in a penal colony. A case was also initiated against Voronova and her friend Vera Ignatenko for preparing the murder of Voronova’s ex-husband. We do not consider this charge to be politically motivated. On 4 December 2024, she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in a general regime colony.
