Case summary

On 7 November 2019, three plain clothes FSB officers tried to detain Zagrebelny for examination in his flat. Zagrebelny sprayed them with pepper spray. He was detained. On the same day he wrote an admission of guilt, but in December he retracted it. On 22 October 2020, he was sentenced to five years in a general regime colony and taken into custody in the courtroom. On 22 April 2021, the court of appeal reduced the sentence to three years and ten months. Zagrebelny was released in May 2024.
