Case summary
A resident of Moscow. Two cases were brought against him, both under articles on incitement to hatred and calls to extremism. According to Dmitrii Ivanov, who was convicted to the same colony with a case of public dissemination of deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, one of these cases was initiated in connection with Zaitsev's statements about a law enforcement officer who kicked an elderly woman in the stomach during the dispersal of a rally in support of Alexei Navalny in St. Petersburg on 23 January 2021. The sentence in one of the cases was handed down on 6 May 2022, in the other — on 13 March 2023. As a result, Zaitsev was sentenced to six years in a general regime penal colony.
