Case summary
Resident of Yugorsk (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug). On 19 August 2020, Zhukov's home was searched, he was detained and taken for questioning, after which he was placed in a temporary detention facility. The next day he was released on his own recognisance as part of a case of organising activities of an extremist organisation due to his involvement with the Jehovah's Witnesses community. On 7 August 2023, the court acquitted Zhukov. On 21 November, the appeal court overturned the verdict and sent the case for a new hearing.
