Case summary
Resident of Inza (Ulyanovsk region), director of a medical centre. On August 23, 2024, he was taken into custody on charges of participation in an extremist organisation, namely the "international LGBT movement", as well as forced sexual intercourse. The FSB press release stated that Zhuravlev, "being a supporter of Satanism, promoted among his employees the idea of same-sex relations as a way of joining devil-worship." In addition, he allegedly said that "adopting such a cult was necessary to obtain financial prosperity and achieve career advancement." On 20 March 2025, Zhuravlev was sentenced to three years in a general regime colony.
