An overnight drone attack on the Russian city of Belgorod wounded 12 people, including two children, the regional operational headquarters said. One woman received medical treatment at the scene; the rest were hospitalized.
The attack partially destroyed a private house and damaged several apartment buildings, according to the headquarters. Fires broke out in several apartments and more than 15 cars; the fires have been extinguished.
Belgorod Mayor Valentin Demidov confirmed the casualty figures. In two high-rise buildings, utilities were temporarily cut off, and some apartments are uninhabitable, he said. Residents are being directed to temporary accommodation centers.
The Telegram channel "Pepel Belgorod" reported that the drones struck the city center. One drone fell in the courtyard of a building on Grazhdansky Prospekt, several hundred meters from the regional headquarters of the Federal Security Service (FSB). Another drone reportedly hit an apartment building on Kharkovskaya Gora.
Street lighting was turned off in the city center and the Kharkovskaya Gora area; in some parts of the city it was later restored. Some residents were left without water.
A reader of the outlet Ostorozhno, Novosti said the city is under constant attack but receives little media coverage: "Our city has been simply destroyed for the second week now. Not a word anywhere. How can we live like this? We have no more strength, we are afraid for our children."
