Two people were killed and three wounded in the Sumy region, Ukraine's National Police said. A 14-year-old girl was among the injured. Residential buildings, cars, a shop and an educational facility were damaged.
In the city of Lozova in the Kharkiv region, a drone strike killed one person and injured three others, Ukraine's State Emergency Service (GSChS) reported. Residential buildings and railway infrastructure were damaged and partially destroyed, and fires broke out. One fire occurred in a two-story apartment building, where the roof burned over an area of 200 square meters and apartments on the second floor were destroyed.
In Zaporizhzhia, five people were wounded in a massed attack, according to GSChS. Two nine-story residential buildings were damaged, and fires broke out on the grounds of a shopping center and in a building of a higher education institution.
In the Kropyvnytskyi district of the Kirovohrad region, a drone attacked an infrastructure facility. An employee of the enterprise was injured and hospitalized. A fire broke out at the site and was later extinguished.
In the Bucha district of the Kyiv region, a service station caught fire after the attack, and in the Fastiv district a sawmill building burned. The fires were extinguished, with no deaths or injuries reported. In the Odesa region, warehouse facilities belonging to a grocery supermarket chain — which had already been targeted in earlier attacks — were hit. No one was injured.
Rescue work was complicated by the threat of repeated air strikes, said Oleh Kiper, head of the regional military administration.
According to Ukraine's Air Force, Russia launched 172 strike drones and "Banderol"/"Dan-T" drone-missiles at Ukraine overnight on September 21, of which 148 air targets were shot down.
Russia's Defense Ministry said the targets of the overnight strikes were logistics centers, warehouses and ports in Ukraine, as well as vessels that the ministry claims were used in the interests of Ukraine's armed forces. In particular, the ministry reported strikes on the BDU Logistic logistics center (Shchaslyve) and a gas distribution station (Boyarka) in the Kyiv region, port infrastructure in Izmail, and two dry cargo ships.
Accounts differ: Current Time and GSChS report five wounded in Zaporizhzhia, while TV Rain gives an overall figure of 12 injured across all regions. TV Rain and Ekho cite three dead and seven injured, while Current Time does not mention deaths in the Sumy region.
