Ukrainian Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotskyi said Russian military strikes have destroyed about 90% of the warehouses used by Ukrainian retail chains to store food products, the Ukrinform news agency reported.
Vysotskyi stressed that this does not mean a threat of famine or a systemic physical shortage of products. According to him, the supply system will change, in particular through direct deliveries from producers to stores, bypassing large warehouses. The minister acknowledged that more complicated logistics could lead to higher prices, and the assortment in stores "may suffer somewhat."
Over the past month, according to Ukrinform, Russian forces have attacked warehouses and distribution centers of the chains Fora, Varus, Silpo and Novus with drones and missiles. On the night of August 27, during an attack on the Kyiv region, warehouse facilities in the Fastiv district caught fire. A day earlier, drones attacked warehouse buildings in Chernihiv, and on the night of August 24, the Epicenter shopping center in Odesa caught fire.
