Governor Dmitry Artyukhov said a Ukrainian drone attacked an industrial facility in Novy Urengoy, and that falling debris caused a fire. Firefighters worked at the site, and no one was injured, he said. He did not name the facility.
Artyom Zhoga, the presidential envoy to the Ural Federal District, wrote that the fire broke out at a fuel and energy complex facility and that the plant's personnel had been evacuated in advance. He also did not identify the site.
Ukrainian monitoring channels Exilenova+ and Supernova+ reported that the target was Gazprom's Novourengoysky condensate preparation plant for transport, which has a capacity of 19.5 million tonnes of raw material a year.
Ukraine's Fire Point said a drone of its own manufacture, the FP-1, struck the facility. The company claimed the drone covered 3,200 km, a new record for strike range.
Ukraine's Special Operations Forces said its Deep Strike unit carried out the deepest strike on Russian territory of the entire war. The military said the drones traveled more than 3,000 km to the target and hit two large gas condensate industry enterprises, the Novourengoysky and Purovsky plants. The Special Operations Forces stressed that these plants prepare and process significant volumes of gas condensate extracted from Yamal's fields.
Novy Urengoy lies 2,700–2,800 km from the Russian-Ukrainian border in the Belgorod and Kursk region area. This is the first known attack by Ukrainian drones in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Military analyst Yan Matveyev noted that this is probably the farthest Ukrainian strike on Russian territory since the start of the war.
According to the Russian Energy Ministry, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is Russia's largest hydrocarbon base, holding about 57% of the country's natural gas reserves and more than 13% of its oil reserves. The region accounts for about 80% of gas production. According to Rosstat data, Russia produced 662.652 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2025, including 527.441 billion cubic meters in the Ural Federal District, mainly in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
